Wooow more info from LG again, as I wrote them
- why the Loader version, had not been updated after the 51214A Firmware upgrade.

Now we at least don't have to wait for a new firmware, to solve the following:

"
This things will never be solved by software according to factory it is hardware issue

- Rewind / Fast forward when playing XviD/DivX movies.
(NOT to be confused with goto/search by time).

- Fast DUBBING to DVD of edited material.
(e.g. FAST copying to DVD, after commercials have been cut away).

- Using the recorder,
while a timerbased/programmed recording is running.

- Having to switch off the recorder,
for a timerbased/programmed recording to start.

Loader has there actually not come any new upgrade for on this machine.
XXXXX XXXXX"

I will update my bullets (in my previous post in this thread) once again.

/Anders.

I just successfully firmware upgraded my INO3 (an LG RH7500 clone with a replacement 250 Gb harddisk), and I have the following test results according to the above statements:

Issues/features addressed in firmware 51214A:

- .srt / .sub subtitle bug in XviD / DivX movies (no end time).
(e.g. subtitles in XviD / DivX, are no longer displayed permanently).
  Corrected in firmware 51214A.

This is NOT what I see here  I have still subtitles (of the MicroDVD type = .sub) sitting there till replaced

I play DivX and subtitle from my harddrive.

I haven't tested from disk devices, but I would assume no difference there.

- Remember subtitle setting, for XviD/DivX movies, e.g. LATIN-2.
  Corrected in firmware 51214A.

 Affirmative

This error has now been corrected.

Best Regards,

Justin (Justin-DK)

Maybe I was a bit quick on .srt / .sub subtitles together in one bullet.
I only tested .srt from a CD/DVD, containing an XviD movie.

Will split the .srt / .sub into 2 bullets instead of 1.
So .srt is to be preferred over .sub for the LG RH 7x00 players.

Nice to know.

...lasted only till I "rebooted" the machine. After that, this bug fix took effect and "End Time" is being observed (and subtitles DO disappear!!!)

Sorry, AndersPier. It was ME being hasty here

So, the one bug was fixed already by the update, and the other one needed the machine to be rebooted.

And, now we are here and talking subtitles, did I ever recommend the URUSoft Subtitle Workshop application (for free!!!)?

It's a great tool when you want to correct, time adjust, convert, translate (or whatever) an existing subtitle file.

Anyway, the MicroDVD subtitle text format works now perfectly with this latest firmware upgrade.

Thanks again, AndersPier, for your work with LG Nordic ;-)

Regards,
Justin

No problem - excellent the issue has been fixed, I will update the table back to .srt/.sub as corrected in the new firmware. As well as remind people to switch the recorder off and on again.

I actually did that (switched it off and on, as soon as the update finished).

Hej Justin.

Nu tror jeg, at jeg ved hvad du ref. til mht. de 2 typer CPU'er, der er på LG Recorderne. Det er garanteret Loader versionen du mener.
Se her: http://test.pier.dk/dvd/LG%20RH-7xxx/Firmware/50617A/50617A_ FW.html

"
We will substitute add new loader(RL6), so the main program is updated.
This updated program is aim to support old(RL5) and new(RL6) loader altogether.

You have to check the main updated program(this program) before getting loader program.
Because there are two different kinds of loaders and in-loader programs.
One is RL5(Vxx) version (Old) and the other is RL6(Wxx) version (New).
But, they are not compatiable each other at once.
So, here is the new updated main program.
You can utilize perfectly this program when judging whether the loader is new or not,
choosing appropriate loader program.
So, you must always update main program before loader program.

I'll let you know about notification as soon as we've finished to update the loader program.

*** Don't forget it!! ***
You must always update main program before loader program.
This information is only avaliable on RC7xxx, RH7xxxx, DR7xxxx series.

#. Difference of Old and New loader program
1. Expansion of program files :
=> *.RL5 -> Old loader (Vxx version)
=> *.RL6 -> New loader (Wxx version)
"

Og til Anders: Jeg leder fiortsat efter det forum hvor jeg så de to typer "CPUer" omtalt med navns nævnelse, men jeg skal nok finde den ;-)

Anders,

I have read about the loader in 506017A release notes. But I didn't understand than. Now I still don't understand it. Has the loader to be updated with 50617A first? (Well I did anyway) Or are we talking something completely separate from the fw updates?

My loader is v.35

- Srt bug solved indeed.
- AVI subtitle copdepage memory setting was already solved in 50617A.

Hi Tweakradje.

You don't have to update with 50617A before 51214A (I didn't), but You can. Maybe the Loader is included with the 50617A firmware, and no Loader with 51214A.

Do You remember what Loader You had BEFORE updating to 50617A ?
Same version or older ? What date (after the serial number) do You have on Your recorder ? I have May 2005. I ask because the date, after the serial number has something to do with the firmware/Loader version, when the recorder was released from the factory.

Maybe I'll try to update with 50617A, and redo the 51214A upgrade to see if it makes a difference.

Again, as far I know the Loader is a small piece of software responsible for doing firmware-upgrades on the player/recorder. You would need some other area in the firmware to be responsible for updates for the main code, as the memory/firmware for the actual update of the player/recorder otherwise is overwritten during the upgrade.
Hope it makes some kind of sense.

And as I mentioned before, maybe You are right - to update the Loader, You'd have to upgrade with 50617A before 51214A (it doesn't hurt to do it in that order anyway).

The guy I wrote with from LG, did not mention anything about, having to update with 50617A before 51214A though. I'll try and se if makes a difference to the Loader version on my recorder.

Well my recorder still has the old loader so 50617A did not update the loader to W.. (new version) The original fw on the recorder was 50323A (or something like that)
I thought the loader was the DVD writer firmware. Because that was mentioned in earlier postings here that the loader was responsible for not doing FF on DIVX. Maybe I got that wrong.

Cheers

Hi Tweakradje.

Maybe the Loader here is the DVD Firmware (again, not sure what it is on this player/recorder) - but what version of the Loader (not Firmware), did the recorder have BEFORE You upgraded to version 50617A ? e.g. Loader=.v30.

Have just seen in other devices, that the software responsible for updating the firmware, is a seperate piece of software/firmware form the actual functionality of the player/recorder.
